When it comes to housing, you
will have to make sure that hamsters should be kept away from each other
as they have a tendency to become rather territorial. You will also have
to consider their mating habits, since if males are housed with females,
reproduction is bound to occur, as they grow mature in terms of sexual
practices after 6 weeks. Therefore, it is of the essence that you house
hamsters individually. You will need to get them an aquarium or a metal
cage at the very least, with bars which aren't wide. This is required in
order to ensure that your hamsters will not squeeze through and escape.
You should also give them a comfy area to nest in too.
When it comes to feeding them,
you will need to provide a proper dish for their food and a water
container, with the latter being replaced on a regular basis. Of course,
hamsters have distinct personalities and their eating habits may vary from
one another. Some would actually want to rest or sit on the dish while
consuming their food, so you will need to look into the size of the dish
you are using. You should also see to it that the dish is heavy enough so
as to avoid having it tip over when hamsters are feeding on them.
In terms of cleanliness, you
wouldn't have to worry about much, except for the fact that you will need
to make sure their environment, namely their dwelling place, is looked
after quite thoroughly and well maintained. A hamster happens to be quite
organized, being known to set aside a particular spot for feeding while
the other is for other activities.
